Art Walk fitting climax at Orangery

The Wakefield Art Walk event on Wednesday this week (March 28th) provided a fantastic way to say goodbye to what has been an enjoyable couple of months at The Orangery. The Clare White exhibition has welcomed hundreds of visitors who have left some lovely comments in the visitors’ book. One lady even saw the show in the St Ives Times & Echo and made a visit! On to North Notts now . . . Big thanks to Katie for taking these photos.

When Two ladies Went Travelling – Thoresby Gallery, Notts – March 31st to April 22nd 2012

A selection of paintings by Clare White, (1903-1997), were shown alongside watercolours painted by Marie-Louise Roosevelt Pierrepont, (1889-1984), who was Countess Manvers of Thoresby Hall. The two artists shared a similar background, loved travelling and brought back their experiences through the medium of watercolour. Both artists exhibited widely including The Royal Academy, Paris Salon and The Society of Women Artists.
