Clare White: A Centenary Celebration – St Ives Arts Club, 2003
Clare White lived and painted in St Ives from 1949 until her death at the age of 93 in 1997. This exhibition returned a large collection of her work to the art colony and attracted the attention of close friends, old and new admirers and holiday art buyers. It was held in the St Ives Art Club, where White was the first female President in 1954. The exhibition, with curator’s talks, marked the centenary of her birth in Sidmouth, Devon in 1903. And, the whole celebratory event was part of the successful St Ives September Festival.
